Protecting a Motorcycle

Motorcycles sometimes fall under the category of seasonal vehicles. As with seasonal vehicles like boats and RVs, motorcycles need some protection, too, so that the surface doesn’t rust or build up mildew and dry rot. One option for covering a motorcycle is to use a small portable storage building, one that is about the size of a car or a standard shed, to store the vehicle for a few months. While some do ride their motorcycles in colder weather, and even the snow, others might see a motorcycle as a vehicle for warmer weather and, as a result, need to store it somewhere. When you don’t have a brick-and-mortar garage, putting it in a small portable storage building is equally as protective.

The types of portable sheds for motorcycle storage at CanopyHut are Shelterlogic Shed-in-a-Box shelters. These resemble smaller portable garages and have the same type of composition. This includes a steel frame and a polyethylene canopy. The canopy, which covers the roof and all sides in this case, is treated to be waterproof and UV resistant, as well as rot and mildew resistant. Even heavy-duty polyethylene with a 14 by 14 denier count is still somewhat breathable, so air circulates enough under the shelter to prevent mildew and dry rot from forming on the vehicle, while the canopy protects it from the elements that could damage its finish.

Motorcycle shelters, or a Shed-in-a-box, come in several sizes. Most are small enough to fit one motorcycle, with the smallest being six feet by six feet by six feet, and the largest shelter big enough to hold multiple vehicles. Many of these are standard sheds and, during the months in which you use your motorcycle, the portable shelter can be used as additional storage space or as a proper shed.
